Faerunian Lore
Maddox is a creation of the Fleshbinder, a reclusive and feared sorceress who dwelt in the misty shadows skirting the Ardeep Forest. Twisting the magic of nature, she wove together the dying remains of the fields; hay, gourds, and corn silk for sinew. She carved a face with a perpetual, terrifying grin and ignited its depths with blood magic before breathing a twisted necromantic form of life into her creation. The Fleshbinder's Daughter became an apprentice, a vessel through which her secrets of drawing power from life's essence, rending flesh with a mere thought, coaxing the dead from their restless slumber, and the living to their inevitable graves flourished. But the Fleshbinder made a critical error in her hubris, because nature requires balance, and over time her daughter's will began to chafe against her control. As a creature of autumn's bounty and decay she absorbed not just her teachings, but the very essence of the land, the sorrow of forgotten graves, the desperate cling of the harvest, and the chilling whisper of the wind through skeletal trees. On a moonless Liar's Night, the Fleshbinder's Daughter turned the tables. As her magic flowed against the Fleshbinder, the spirits of the forest rose in revolt, the skeletons of the cornfields stirred with vengeful life and the Fleshbinder vanished without a trace.
